6 Steps to Staying Motivated
Motivation is the reason behind peoples actions, desires, and needs. Motivation is the gas in our car that drives us through life. Without it, we would get no where. It's easy to run out of gas, it's also just as easy to run out of motivation. Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to increase motivation.
1. Set Goals
What do you want out of life? Figure out your long-term goals. Do you want to be your own boss? Do you want to be able to support a family? Determine short-term goals that will help you reach your long-term. For example, if your long-term goal is to be a your own boss, a short-term goal could be taking an entrepreneurship class at a local university.
2. Make a Plan
You can't achieve your goals without making a plan. Decide on the steps you will take to achieve your goals. Write them out. Having tangible goals in front of you, will make it easier to map out a plan. It will also help to serve as a reminder of what your goals are.
3. Surround Yourself With Supportive People
Spend time with people who want to see you succeed. If you are by people who are supportive and motivated, you will model that behavior. You feed off the energy they give. Don't ever waste time with people who are going to limit you and bring you down.
4. Have a Daily Routine
Having structure in your day-to-day will eliminate wasted time and maximize the amount of tasks you can get done. The more tasks completed, the more you've accomplished, and the closer you are to your goals.
5. Reward Yourself
It's important to pat yourself on the back for a job well-done. Be proud of your accomplishments and treat yourself. Rewards can range from a vacation in the tropics for a year of hard-work or something as simple as treating yourself to a night of take-out and your favorite show after passing an exam.
6. Stay Positive
Negative things will occur in your life, it's inevitable. The key is not to eliminate the negative events, that's impossible. Instead, grow and learn from them. Focus on the positive in life and maintain a positive outlook.
