Having Fun at Work is More Important Than You Think

When you think of working and you think of having fun, the two may seem like polar opposites. However, there are many benefits to having fun at work. Yes, there are obvious benefits, like making the day go by faster and the work seem easier, but it goes beyond that. Having a fun work environment:

Keeps employees happy. This may seem simple, but it's very powerful. Happy employees do better work. They care more about their job and the people working around them.

Lessens the tensions in the environment. This makes it easier to manage conflicts. People feel that in a tense environment they can't work through conflicts and eventually, that takes a toll on their performance. It also can create negative relationships between employees.

Encourages the concept of a team. When employees are having fun together, they build good relationships. They want to help one another. They want everyone to succeed and reach their maximum potential.

Boosts self-esteem. Not all employees are outgoing, many are introverts that find it hard to ever speak up or voice their opinions/problems. Doing various team-building activities will encourage employees to have fun and get to know one another. Introverts will feel more comfortable overall in their work environment once other get to know them better.

Stimulates creativity. When your having fun the creative side of your brain is engaged. Your mind is open and you have a whole new perspective.
