6 Questions to Ask Yourself Every Day

Why am I here?

Don't think of this question in an abstract, larger-than-life sort of way. Think of it in a present and practical sense. Why are you at work right now? Why are you in the grocery store? Why are you volunteering? Think of all the factors motivating you to be doing exactly what you are doing right now. Money, family, friends, sense of accomplishment, and more motivate us. Recognizing what motivates us in the present moment, will drive us to keep going.

What more should I do?

If you know you have a lot of down time, don't just sink into the couch and binge watch Netflix. Write down the tasks that have been daunting you or the problems in your life that need to be solved. Schedule these tasks into your day. The sooner you complete what you've been putting off, the better you'll feel.

What can I let go?

Let go of tasks that are not necessary. Not every task you do is going to benefit you, it may even harm you. The sooner you let go of the negative, the more positive you will feel and the more energy you will have to put into what you truly enjoy. Do you feel bored at your weekly book club? Or uncomfortable at spin class? There's a simple solution, let go of them.

How can I be more efficient?

Think of your daily tasks and think of how you can complete them in the most efficient way possible. Can you multi-task, and cook dinner while you clean? Can you complete tasks faster, like send emails, if the television is off?

What should I be grateful for?

We all have people and blessings in our life that we should be thankful for. Take a moment every day to appreciate everything you have. It's very easy to get caught up in everything we don't have. If you have a family that loves you, friends that support you, a roof over your head, or food on your plate, you have a reason to be grateful.

How should I start tomorrow?

Pre-planning your next day will make you more productive and alleviate future stress. It will also help you to rest easier the night before. Make a mental or a physical note of a plan of how you will structure your day, as well as a list of tasks to complete.
